Formed in Columbus, Ohio in 1987, RAS BONGHI's lineup has included members from all over the world.
Membership has ranged from Caribbean, African, and American roots. This multicultural influence has given an additional dimension to the band's already distinctive signature style. In 1990, their efforts culminated in the release of their first Album, "Love Light." Being well received in both Europe and the U.S., this now out of print album continues to be one of the most well requested albums of the genre.
Since its inception, the band has opened for internationally known acts such as The Wailers, Phil Collins, Yellow Man, Black Uhuru, and Steel Pulse. They have also performed in festivals with B.B. King, Bobby Blue Bland, Little Feat, and others. As a result of their ever increasing following and sell out shows wherever they perform, The RAS BONGHI
are often heralded as one of the foremost reggae bands of the Southeast.
